Sophie – Rehabilitation Equipment Hire

 In Thank yous

Ten-year-old Sophie lives with complex disabilities that affect her mobility and everyday activities. Following major reconstructive surgery on her feet and ankles at the Royal Children’s Hospital, she needed specialised equipment to support her recovery at home.

MAD funded the hire of a rehabilitation wheelchair, an access ramp and a ShowerBuddy system, helping Sophie and her family manage everyday activities safely and comfortably during her recovery.

Sophie’s parents, Steve and Kaye, shared this heartfelt message of thanks:

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation for your generous support in providing rental equipment for our daughter, Sophie, following her extensive double foot and ankle reconstruction and calf muscle stretching at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The rehabilitation wheelchair, ramp into our home and ShowerBuddy system have made such a significant difference to our daily lives. These essential pieces of equipment are enabling us to better support Sophie’s needs, comfort and safety while she recovers from this major surgery.

Without this equipment, managing everyday activities and caring for Sophie during her recovery would be incredibly challenging. As Sophie already has significant complex needs, she requires more specialised and supportive equipment than a standard wheelchair can provide.

We are incredibly grateful for organisations like yours that recognise the challenges families face and provide practical support when it is needed most. Your generosity has helped make a difficult time a little easier for Sophie and our family.

A very special thank you to the generous donors who make this support possible. Please know that your kindness truly does make a difference, and we are so very thankful for the assistance you have provided to our family.
