Aiden – Specialised Car Seat and Stroller

Aiden is a vibrant six-year-old living with a progressive mitochondrial condition known as MELAS syndrome, which causes gradual loss of mobility, cognitive function and communication. He also lives with autism and ADHD, making day-to-day care and transport more complex.

As Aiden’s condition has progressed, he’s become increasingly fatigued and unsafe in standard mobility and car seating. He had outgrown his previous stroller, and his existing car seat no longer met safety standards—posing a serious risk during long car journeys required for essential appointments. Despite the urgent need, funding from his NDIS plan was declined due to technical limitations.

In early 2025, MAD supported Aiden with a KidsFlex specialised car seat and a Convaid cruiser stroller, ensuring he can now travel safely and comfortably, with proper postural support.

His occupational therapist wrote:
