Welcome, Harriet Caldwell – Beneficiary Ambassador

We’re delighted to welcome Harriet Caldwell as a Beneficiary Ambassador for the MAD Foundation.

In 2023, Harriet’s life changed immediately when a spinal cord stroke left her paralysed from the waist down. She was just 13 years old. After three months in hospital, Harriet was ready to return home—but without a suitable wheelchair, that wasn’t possible.

MAD stepped in to provide a manual day chair, covering the cost of rental until her custom-built wheelchair arrived. That practical support made a real and immediate difference at one of the most difficult times for her family.

Since then, Harriet has embraced new challenges, including wheelchair basketball. She now trains in the Victorian State Development Program and continues to push forward with strength and determination which has seen her selected for both the Victorian Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team and the Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League Victoria Wonders team.

Harriet joins our ambassador group to share her story and raise awareness of the critical support MAD provides. Her courage and spirit are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do—and we’re proud to have her on board.

Welcome, Harriet.
