Mitchell – Car Seat

 In Thank yous

Mitchell is a 2 year old boy, born prematurely with Cerebal Palsy and complex medical needs. In his short life, Mitchell has already undergone several surgeries including brain surgery. Mitchell requires support to complete all his daily living including mobility, communication, self care and play. The amount of support he requires is far greater than that of a typically developing child his age and he will require this for the rest of his life. Mitchell’s family has had great expense in purchasing adaptive equipment for his special needs.

Mitchell desperately needs a special needs car seat.  He has outgrown his rear-facing seat and a regular seat will not cater for his physical needs. Without a special needs car seat, he will be unable to be transported in his family’s car. A swivel base will be funded through SWEP but the waiting list for a car seat is at least 12 months. The MAD Foundation was able to fund a Carrot Car Seat that will support his body and be fitted to a swivel base that gives assistance in transferring in and out of the vehicle.

That is fantastic news! The family are absolutely thrilled, and this will make a huge difference to them!
