Luke – Feeding Supplies and Specialised Stroller
Luke is a baby with a rare neurodevelopmental condition called PURA syndrome—a diagnosis associated with significant physical and developmental challenges. From birth, he required extended hospitalisation, respiratory support, and specialised feeding via a nasojejunal tube to reduce the risk of aspiration and reflux.
Due to his family’s visa status, Luke is ineligible for Medicare, NDIS, or other government supports. While his parents have private health cover, it does not cover the essential equipment and feeding supplies required for daily care. With one parent working full-time and the other on unpaid leave due to Luke’s high care needs, the financial strain quickly became unmanageable.
In 2025, MAD supported Luke with 12 months of essential feeding supplies, as well as a Bingo Evo stroller to enable safe, upright positioning and outings after months in hospital care.
His physiotherapist shared:
“This was his first experience outside his hospital room in an upright, sitting position, and it was really exciting for the family to take him for a ride! His parents were extremely grateful and wished to pass along their thanks.”

Support like this has given Luke’s family not just practical help, but a sense of possibility as they navigate the unknowns of his early development.
